Master Tome
Innovative leather stylings and foil pressed designs
I designed distinctive riveted and embossed leather designs for Elderwood’s latest Kickstarter, a Game Master screen and modular storage box. I was tasked with coming up with brand new leather and foil pressed designs that work with Elderwood’s core competencies. My intent is to transform the Master Tome into a fantasy prop that adds magic to a Game master’s storytelling as it functions as the centerpiece during a D&D campaign.
-
Beta Edition
This design features light embossing around the border that topographically juxtaposes with riveted accent leather elements and a subtle ripple design to accentuate the icon a customer would choose.
-
Masterwork Edition
This maximalist look features an abundance of rivets and overlapping straps along the spine as well as radiating diamond foil accents that keep the players’ eyes captivated.
-
Aegis Edition
Inspired by armor sets found in popular video games, this look mimics what a Tome would look like if it was bound and crafted by materials found scavenged in a fantasy or sci-fi landscape.
-
Eldritch Edition
This cursed look features the mad glowing eyes of an Eldritch entity, glowering at the players, guarding the tome with its writhing, monstrous tentacles.

Acquisitions Incorporated
For Pride Month 2021, Elderwood collaborated with Acquisitions Incorporated, a D&D and Penny Arcade venture, to create a Pride themed Master Tome to be given away during one of Acquisitions Incorporated charity streams.
I experimented with foil pressing the entire surface area of the leather straps to create a bolder look. Because I wanted to showcase the rainbow theme, I chose Ivory and Onyx leathers to accentuate those colors. It’s also a play on the fact that the color black absorbs and white reflects all wavelengths of light, with the rainbow spectrum existing between the dichotomy.
